LUCY'S STORY
Lucy has always been a creator, a maker, a designer. Her sewing journey began as a determined toddler with a dull plastic needle and yarn, which she quickly mastered. At four years old, she begged her mum for a “real” needle and thread – determined to learn how to sew.
One sunny afternoon on the beach at Davis Bay, her mom finally showed her the basics of hand sewing. It didn’t take long before Lucy’s skills outpaced her mother’s, and she began creating all kids of handmade treasures – lopsided hearts, tiny families of dolls, and loosely stitched bags. She even hand-stitched an entire birthday card, complete with carefully sewn lettering.
When she was eight, Lucy created her first “Pocket Pet” for a school project. Since then, she has refined the idea, moving from hand stitching to machine sewing and added little details along the way.
Lucy fell in love with fashion, and the colors, textures, and patterns of fabric. Her Jamma (grandma) shares her sewing wisdom, teaching Lucy everything from zippers to patterns – and even helping her sew her very first dress.
Now a teen entrepreneur, Lucy sells her creations at farmers markets on the Sunshine Coast and dreams of one day becoming a sustainable fashion designer.
